So, a sort of early start (only 7am), to take us to the Tanah Merah ferry terminal in Singapore. Check in was simple, walk to the ferry, brief ferry ride (maybe 40 minutes) and we were in Batam Indonesia 🇮🇩 . We were heading to Bawah Reserve, and they have a system worked out for an expedited visa/immigration clearance, which really helped.
Car (van) ride to the airport (yes Batam Island has an airport) where we joined our flight to Bawah Reserve by amphibious aircraft – taking off from a tarmac runway, and landing on the water ! What a great experience! Apart from the pilot not wearing any shoes, it was quite the experience.
But this place is amazing. In so many ways. Just stunning.
Had a quick lunch, then time for a catch up nap. Later we headed off on a sunset cruise that we were both glad we did.
